When IOX was born in 1968, our chief mission was to help educators do a better instructional job. Now, more than 35 years later, that mission is fundamentally the same. Except that these days we're trying to give a meaningful assist to those involved in parent education. Parents, of course, are an important crowd for if there were no parents, the need for schools would be meaningfully diminished!

In recent years, IOX has attempted to accomplish its mission by producing affordable videotapes for staff-development and parent-education programs. IOX founder, Dr. W. James Popham, continues to write on topics of interest to educators, parents, and himself. Descriptions of recent IOX videos, as well as a considerable array of recent essays by Popham, are presented on this website.

We definitely try to tussle with topics that 21st century educators want to learn more about, for example, high-stakes tests, school quality, the No Child Left Behind Act, teaching's relationship to testing, measuring students' attitudes, and classroom assessment. We also attempt to do battle with content that interests parents, namely, homework, judging school quality, parental involvement, accountability, testing students, and working with teachers.
